Several years ago DH and I went to Montego Bay Jamaica to a Sandals resort for a week!

The resort was beautiful, set on the Caribbean and surrounded by beautiful beaches. We loved the resort! Besides being in a beautiful location, it was all inclusive and I have to admit there was a lot of over indulgences going on! A little more rum, a little more cake, a little more whatever…

We were never at a need for anything.

There was a lot of things to do around the area and we also had some fun sightseeing. Yo Man! This was heard a lot. No problem was the second most heard phrase there and we became fluent in Jamaican talk LOL.

We spent on day riding ATV’s up a mountain side that overlooked Whitehall which is a famous place for witches and ghost stories in Jamaica. The ATV ride was a blast. I had never ridden one before and it only took a few minutes for me to become speedy Gonzalez and get reprimanded by the tour guide!

Several days were also spent exploring different plantations growing bananas and coffees, etc and they were OK. I found it a little boring and wanted to get back to the flowing libations awaiting me at the resort!

My favorite part of the whole trip was when we asked our friendly cab driver where to go that was not on all the tours and was something enjoyable. He asked if we liked birds and then proceeded driving us up barely a road to an old but lovely home on the side of a mountain. Outside of the home came a Rastafarian inviting us in. I thought, “Oh no, what have we gotten ourselves in to.” We follow the Rasta to a porch on the side of the house and had us sit down besides each other in old creaky wooden chairs surely made several generations before.

Once seated the Rasta handed DH and I a small little bottle with liquid in it and a small hole on the lid. He advised us it was sugar water and then said to hold the bottle a certain way and a finger on the other hand out. He then sprinkled seeds on our laps. We did as instructed and it was not long when I felt I was in a fantasy land. We were actually feeding beautiful Hummingbirds on our fingers and small finches were on our laps eating the seed. I was so fascinated with the beautiful hummingbirds and there were several different colored ones coming for some sugar water. I would of sat there all day feeding those birds. I was so wonderful a feeling. After feeding the birds the Rasta showed us around the outside of the house and explained each plant and the purpose it serves for their health. One for blood pressure another for diabetes, etc. He also offered us a little ganga but we declined.

I hated leaving the birds and DH practically had to drag me to the cab and this became the high light of my Jamaican vacation.
